First of all, a warm welcome to our newest members, all in Nova Scotia: Karen Crouse in Sydney, Andrew Wetmore in Smiths Cove, and Heather White in Halifax.
BIG NEWS is our merger with the Newfoundland & Labrador twig! We polled our respective memberships and got the thumbs up, and the national executive council voted unanimously to accept our proposal. So, hello and welcome to all the Newfoundland & Labrador members! We’ll now be known as the Atlantic twig or Editors Atlantic. Our email address will change, as will our Facebook and Twitter handles, and we’ll be creating a new web page to incorporate the important info of both twigs, such as the Editors for Hire list and upcoming events. With Zoom as a new fact of life, we’ll be able to easily meet all together formally and to continue to meet informally in our smaller groups. Co-chairs Molly Rookwood, Margo Grant, and Sandy Newton of NL will roll out the changes as smoothly as we possibly can—please have patience!
The Wolfville Editors’ Bunch met May 18 via Zoom.
We held a casual noontime social via Zoom on May 8 and are planning another for Saturday, June 12. We’re hoping to see some new faces along with the regulars.
Upcoming Editors Canada webinars: Editing in Another World, June 23, and Introduction à la révision linguistique à l’aide de Google Documents, June 29.
Registration is still open for the Editors Canada 2021 national conference, Editors 21: Editors Transform, scheduled for the weekend of June 12 & 13. This all-online conference has some terrific offerings—check out the exciting line-up.
