- Something Wikid This Way Came: On November 17, Jenny Higgins gave us a spirited presentation on the wonderful world of Wikipedia. In 2019, Jenny was Wikipedian-in-residence at Memorial University’s Centre for Newfoundland Studies.
- Next twig session: Back by popular demand! On January 21, 2022, Canada Revenue Agency reps will be back again to give us tax tips for sole proprietors and small businesses. To RSVP and receive the link to the presentation, e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Twig website update: The website committee (Sue MacLeod, Alex Peace, Molly Rookwood, Patti Simmons and Andrew Wetmore) has reviewed proposals from prospective web designers and has settled on a preferred supplier. The committee is in consultation with Editors Canada’s national website re-design task force to ensure compatibility.
Holiday season is imminent, so we’re planning an online social for the evening of Wednesday, December 8. (More deets to come this week.) While we hope to be able to gather in person a lot more often in the new year, we would truly love to see as many members as possible for this event. We’re also happy to help facilitate in-person gatherings with Doodle polls and outreach if needed.
Working with other members from across the country is a really broadening experience. Editors Canada is looking for committee volunteers for the 2022 conference, May 27–29. This will be an in-person/online hybrid event, with the in-person events taking place in Edmonton. The level of commitment varies but is generally about 5–10 hours per month. Volunteers are required in the following areas: communications, social media, speakers, sponsorship, local experience, vendor fair, volunteer coordinator, and website.
