Nova Scotia Twig co-coordinators, Jamie and Margo, have been making plans for the membership. We’d like to share our ideas with you at an informal gathering, where we can invite your thoughts and comments. Lunch and beverages will be provided. (BYOB if you like—it’s a social.)
In addition, new member Jena Parsons will give a presentation on search engine optimization. Explore how to write and edit content to boost SEO online. This session will help you and your clients get noticed on the web. You will learn how to:
identify how readers interact with online content
conform content to google algorithms
build basic SEO skills
use SEO skills to make yourself more marketable.
And Margaret MacQuarrie will walk us through the vexations of editing PDFs in Adobe Acrobat.
We’re really looking forward to welcoming our new members, catching up with not-new ones, and exchanging info and ideas with everyone. We’ll be able to hook you up digitally if you can’t attend in person—let us know if you want to join us this way.

We think it’s high time the Halifax folks had a regular lunch bunch like the Wolfville Editors’ Bunch (WEB) have. Editors Canada members in the Annapolis Valley meet monthly to share a meal, thoughts, concerns, questions, and to just stay in touch with each other. Lunch is in a different venue each time, and the invitation is always open to other members.
So—if you build it they will come, right?
The first Halifax-area editors’ lunch will be Wednesday, November 14, 12:00 pm, at The Lemon Tree, 805 Bedford Highway. (It’s in a unit of one of the converted motels.)
On Saturday, October 20, we’re planning a group visit to Wayzgoose, the annual day-long festival celebrating the art and craft of printing, held at Gaspereau Press in Kentville, NS.
According to Wikipedia, “a wayzgoose was at one time an entertainment given by a master printer to his workmen each year on or about St Bartholomew’s Day (August 24). It marked the traditional end of summer and the start of the season of working by candlelight.”
The Gaspereau Press Wayzgoose will feature readings, presentations, informal and formal discussions, and an open house.
Wolfville Editors’ Bunch (WEB) will be holding their monthly lunch meeting Wednesday, September 26, 2018, 12:00 noon, at The Noodle Guy, 964 Main Street, Port Williams. Please RSVP Julie Cochrane by Sunday September 23.
Saturday, September 15, 2018, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at Halifax Central Library, Editors Nova Scotia volunteers will be participating with Atlantic Publishers Marketing Association’s Blue Pencil Café. Pick up a list of available local editors at our table in the library plaza, or just drop by and say hello!
